Dana White has message for fans doubting that UFC 249 will happen

“If you’re a fan, if you’re a media member, you’d stop doubting, I would imagine”

“The show must go on.” This has been the sentiment from the UFC in regards to the promotions events. Now, amidst doubt that UFC 249 will materialise, UFC boss Dana White has a message for fans around the world.

With three events cancelled and lingering doubt that the UFC lightweight title bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will actually happen, MMA fans are disheartened to say the least. Nurmagomedov vs Ferguson has been the most anticipated MMA fight in the world for several months, and the two have been scheduled to fight four times previously – With each bout being cancelled.

The UFC officially acknowledged that UFC 249 will no longer take place in New York, and are reportedly looking at other venues from Congo to The Philippines. Now quell any fears that the fight wont happen, White recently took part in an interview, addressing the fans’ concerns.

“If you’re a fan, if you’re a media member, you’d stop doubting, I would imagine,” White told TSN. “But maybe not. We’ll see.”

“If you asked me questions 10 days ago, I could answer any question you threw at me. I don’t know a lot of things right now. Think about this: Las Vegas shut down the casinos. I never thought I’d ever see that in my lifetime. Khabib and Tony is going to happen. We’re going to make it happen. It’s just going to be a matter of how quickly it would go back to being normal.

“I have my own arena,” White said. “I have my own production. I have everything. I have everything you need to put on events. So there isn’t much that I can’t pull off.”

The Nevada State Athletic have not allowed UFC events to be hosted at the UFC Apex Center in Las Vegas. This had been a contingency plan for the promotion in regards to the latest cancelled events. As of now there is no clear alternative as to where UFC 249 will be hosted.
