Michael Chandler Doubts Conor McGregor’s Comeback at UFC 303

"Chandler questions McGregor's cage readiness"

Michael Chandler is set to get his wish as he faces off against Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 303 on June 29. This marks the first time in over three years that “The Notorious” will step into the octagon.

McGregor’s Long-Awaited Return:

It’s been a lengthy road back to the gym for the superstar after breaking his leg in a trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. Many have accused him of using steroids to speed up his recovery. His comeback fight appears daunting, as Chandler is a formidable wrestler with explosive power in his punches.

Chandler’s Insights:

In a recent interview, Chandler conceded that McGregor is the superior striker, but he believes the prolonged hiatus will present a different Conor McGregor at UFC 303, steroids or not.

Chandler’s Statement:

“I don’t need to fight with a guy who has more powerful weapons than me, right?” Michael Chandler told Shawn Ryan in a new interview. “I would say he’s the better striker from a distance. He’s got that amazing left counter. He’s had a lot of success against guys who fight him aggressively and are a bit shorter, stockier wrestlers with an ‘overhand,’ as he calls it. That was Khabib, that was Chad Mendes, that was Eddie Alvarez.”

Further Insights:

“I would say his time outside the cage has resulted in his timing not being what it used to be, his movements not being what they used to be, his reflexes not being what they used to be. When we fight, he will not have set foot in the cage for three years… I’m just going to go out there and get the finish and completely outclass and dominate him because I deserve this and I’ve worked for this.”

McGregor’s Discipline:

The upcoming fight will test McGregor’s promise to quit drinking ahead of the match. Despite his assurances, the past years have seen the star far from disciplined, a promise he has broken several times before. This could prove costly as Michael Chandler never skips a training session and maintains peak condition throughout the year.

Closing Thoughts:

The MMA community eagerly awaits to see how McGregor will perform in his much-anticipated return. Will the time away from the cage have diminished his abilities, or will he surprise everyone with a triumphant return? Only time will tell at UFC 303.
