Report: Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington soon finalised for UFC 245

UFC 245 is looking to get three title bouts, as the UFC are close to booking a welterweight title bout between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington

Earlier this month negotiations for booking Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington for UFC 244 fell through. It seemed like a logical choice for Madison Square Garden, especially with Covington’s ties to the Trump family. While the fight between the current and former interim welterweight champion seemed like a no-brainer, the bout seemed to be in jeopardy. Now it seems Usman vs Covington may very well happen at UFC 245 instead.

According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, the UFC are finalising a bout between Usman and Covington for the years last pay-per-view; UFC 245 – something he announced on his podcast. The event takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, December 14th.

Covington most recently defeated Robbie Lawler  – his seventh straight victory in his ongoing win streak. He has now defeated the likes of r Rafael dos Anjos and Dong Hyun Kim, amongst others. Usman, however, sits on an even better ten fight win streak – the longest in the division. He has yet to taste defeat in the UFC, and was most recently active at UFC 235 where he dominated Tyron Woodley for five rounds.
