Manny Pacquiao Claims Talks Have Begun For A Fight With Conor McGregor
If a boxing fight between Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor is the last thing you want to see, look away now.
The MMA community is currently speculating as to when we will see “The Notorious” back in the UFC Octagon, but before he does that the Irishman could take to the boxing ring again to take on another legend.
According to Sky Sports this evening, talks between Pacquiao and McGregor’s representatives have already taken place regarding a boxing fight in April 2018.
The Philipino was reportedly asked if any talks between the two camps have taken place and he responded by saying “initially” before adding, “But we have not yet had any follow-up conversations. If we can negotiate it, I have no problem. It is OK with both of us.”
MMANytt.com have reached out to McGregor’s management to confirm the report, but we’re still awaiting a response.
The rumours of a potential fight the two began back in November when Pacquiao tweeted McGregor wishing him a happy Thanksgiving.

McGregor made his boxing debut earlier this year in August when he took on Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas. The Irishman was defeated via TKO in the tenth round, but he left the T-Mobile with his held high after landing 111 shots on Mayweather, just 7 fewer than Saul Alvarez (118) and more than Pacquiao who landed just 81.
Fans and fighters in the UFC have been calling for McGregor to return and defend the UFC lightweight title he won back in Nov. 2016, but speaking yesterday with his betting partner Betsafe, McGregor stated: “At this stage of my career, as it has been for the majority of my UFC career, potential opponents must lobby for fights with me.”
Another boxing fight might not be what the UFC fans want to see, but in this day and age money talks and a showdown with Pacquiao is likely the biggest purse out there for the Irishman.
