The UFC President Dana White slams the Entire Welterweight division for being afraid: “No One Wants to Fight Khamzat”

✔One of the baddest dudes I came across ✔ Who's next for Khamzat?

It is no secret that UFC President Dana White is impressed by the Swedish MMA star Khamzat Chimaev. “Borz” has taken the organization by storm, and delivered four straight finishes in his UFC run so far, in both middleweight and welterweight.

His Octagon performances, fighter mentality, willing to fight anybody at any given day, has apparently impressed White, who chose to pay tribute to the fighter on The Jim Rome Podcast. He also explained that the other welterweights do not want to fight Khamzat.

The only obstacle for Khamzat’s progress so far has been his long recovery from a severe COVID-19 illness. However, since the dominant performance against Li Jingliang at UFC 267 in October, a world of possibilities has opened up for the now eleven-ranked welterweight Khamzat.

He has challenged everything and everyone lately, including Daniel Cormier and Brock Lesnar, but the fight that Khamzat seems to be most interested in is a match-up with top-ranked welterweight contender Gilbert Burns. However, it seems that the UFC has had a harder time than usual to get a fight for Khamzat, at least according to White himself.

White slams the welterweight division: “Nobody wants to fight Khamzat”

This is what White had to say about Khamzat on The Jim Rome Podcast:

“Khamzat Chimaev is one of the toughest guys I’ve ever seen and is willing to take on anyone,” said White. He does not care about the time frame or anything like that.

White also states that the UFC is busy arranging a fight for Khamzat, but that they have encountered some problems. No welterweight fighter wants to take on Chimaev. Some, like Neil Magny and Burns, have expressed interest on social media, but according to White, no one wants to sign a fight contract.

“No one dares to fight this guy,” said White. Everyone wants to go out on social media and say one thing and another. But when it comes down to it, nobody wants to try to fight Khamzat Chimaev. I do not blame them. But in the end, you are a professional fighter. You should see a guy with as much hype and confidence as [Khamzat] Chimaev as a huge opportunity.

According to White, the opponents are deliberately trying to avoid a fight with Khamzat.

– Yes, White began. One hundred percent (that people are afraid of him). 100%!
