Streaking Russian Petr Yan offers to face Frankie Edgar in BW debut

✅ The former champ to move down one weight class ✅ Can the Siberian powerhouse Petr Yan become Frankie Edgars first opponent at bantamweight?

Earlier today MMAnytt reported on the news that former lightweight champion and three-time featherweight title challenger Frankie Edgar is set to move down to bantamweight following his loss to Max Holloway at UFC 240. The story was  first reported by ESPN.

“We have already started discussing Frankie’s bantamweight debut,” Edgar’s manager Ali Abdelaziz told ESPN abotu the change in division. “We’re hoping it will be at UFC 244 on Nov. 2 at Madison Square Garden, but 100 percent Frankie’s next fight will be at 135 pounds.”

Now, before the news has even had time to properly circulate, red hot Russian Petr Yan has thrown his name into the mix, and offered to welcome Edgar to the division.

Yan is one of the divisions hottest prospects, seen by many fans and analysts as a future title contender – and even potential champion. In less than one year he took the division by storm, winning five straight fights in the UFC. First he finished Teruto Ishihara via strikes, and then followed up with two additional wins before taking on two-time title challenger John Dodson. After three rounds Yan claimed a clear-cut unanimous decision victory, the same result would follow in his latest bout with top ranked Jimmie Rivera.
