Alexander Gustafsson Explains How He’s Going To Beat Jon Jones At UFC 232
Alexander Gustafsson will face Jon Jones at UFC 232 and unlike last time, he’s not going to leave it in the hands of the judges to determine the winner.
Gustafsson vs Jones was announced for Dec. 29 last week and will be the final UFC main event of 2018. Speaking this week at a media event at the launch of his supplement company Fight Pharm, Gustafsson spoke of his delight for getting the rematch set in stone and explained why he holds Jones in such high regard.
“He is the greatest of all time, that’s how I see it,” Gustafsson said. “That’s how I see him and I don’t care about the other stuff. I’m just so motivated to fight against him. For a belt it’s something else, but fighting him is just something else.
“It’s not about the belt anymore, it’s about fighting the best guy in the world and in the history of the UFC. Now I’m getting the belt too so I’m excited, super excited and I just can’t wait until Dec. 29.”
Whilst thinking Jones is the G.O.A.T., Gustafsson still believes he will be the one getting his hand raised at UFC 232. After fading in the latter rounds and allowing Jones to fight back in the championship rounds during their first bout in 2013, the Swede made a point of saying that this wouldn’t happen a second time.
“I’m going to be in the best shape of my life and I’m going to keep on pressuring him and not give him the distance he needs,” Gustafsson said. “I’m going to finish strong in every round.”
As for the official prediction, Gustafsson didn’t shy away. after letting the first fight go to a decision, Gustafsson says he won’t be allowing that to happen the second time around.
“His head is going to hit the floor in the fourth round,” Gustafsson said. “I’m going to knock him out.”
