Kelvin Gastelum showed up with a belt on his shoulder after his UFC 234 fight against middleweight champion Robert Whittaker was forced out due to injury

Kelvin Gastelum won’t get to fight at UFC 234 but he feels like he’s leaving Australia as the new middleweight champion of the world.

Earlier in the day on Saturday, UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker was forced to pull out of the main event due to a hernia, which cancelled his latest title defense against Gastelum.

Hours later, Gastelum showed up to the arena with a belt on his shoulder declaring that he’s the new middleweight champ because his opponent forfeited.

Check out the interview with Gastelum at UFC 234 as he addresses what comes next with Whittaker down and out after hernia surgery.
