Daniel Cormier Opens as Massive Favorite over Derrick Lewis in UFC 230 Main Event

Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is a huge favorite going into a short notice fight against Derrick Lewis in the new main event for UFC 230 in New York

Daniel Cormier may be stepping up on just over three weeks notice to defend his heavyweight title but that doesn’t mean he’s not the odds on favorite to defeat Derrick Lewis at UFC 230.

The new main event for the Nov. 3 card was announced on Tuesday with Cormier defending his heavyweight title for the first time against Lewis, who is just days removed from a third round knockout against Alexander Volkov at UFC 229.

The odds makers from Ohmbet.com have released the betting lines for the upcoming fight where Cormier is currently a whopping 7-to-1 favorite to beat Lewis in the main event.

Take a look at the lines below:

Cormier being such a heavy favorite isn’t that unexpected considering his reign at both heavyweight and light heavyweight throughout his career with Jon Jones still standing as the only person to hand him a defeat.

Cormier won the heavyweight title back in July when he knocked out former champion Stipe Miocic in the first round. The win made Cormier the second ever simultaneous two division champion in UFC history as he held the heavyweight and light heavyweight titles (Conor McGregor was the first).

Cormier had originally said he wouldn’t be ready to fight at UFC 230 due to a broken hand suffered in the fight with Miocic but it appears he’s healthy enough to face Lewis on Nov. 3.
