Wanderlei Silva Still Wants A Trilogy Fight With Mirko Cro Cop

MMA legend Wanderlei Silva still wants a trilogy fight with Mirko Cro Cop

Wanderlei Silva is 41-years-old, but there still seems to be plenty of fight left in the Brazilian MMA legend.

Speaking today at the BRAVE 9 weigh-ins in Bahrain, Silva spoke exclusively to MMANytt.com and revealed that he’s still not ready to hang up the 4-oz gloves. In fact, retirement appears to be the furthest thing from Silva’s mind.

“Yes, I’m still interested in fighting and I will fight again next year,” Silva said. “I don’t yet know which month or who I will fight, but yes, I’m still looking to fight and I will fight anyone.”

Just last Friday, Bellator MMA announced that they will be holding a heavyweight grand prix in 2018 to determine their new Bellator heavyweight champion. Four of the fighters taking part in the tournament currently fight in the light heavyweight division, but Silva said he had no interest whatsoever in competing in the tournament and that he wouldn’t even consider filling in as an alternate.

“No, no, no,” Silva said with a grin. “Heavyweight is a different place for me. I want to fight at light heavyweight. That’s my weight.”

Whilst heavyweight fights are off the cards, a trilogy fight with his long term rival, Mirko Cro Cop is still very much of interest. Siva also revealed which promotion he thinks he will fight for next.

“Yes, I’m very interested and I think it would be a great fight,” Silva said.

“Soon I will look to fight again and I hope one day that I will get to fight against him.”

“I think I will be fighting in Bellator next, but it could be Rizin. It depends who has the bigger event and who comes to me with a good offer. Then I will come back to fight.”

When asked if he was coming back to claim the Bellator light heavyweight title off Ryan Bader, Silva walked away smiling saying: “Yes, maybe, ha ha, I don’t know.”
