Louis Smolka Re-Signs For The UFC To Fight At UFC Beijing
Louis Smolka has been through a lot in the past few years, but today will mark a special day for the Hawaiian as he has re-signed with the UFC.
Smolka’s return was first announced by James Lynch (HERE) who first reported the news that he will face Sumudaerji Sumudaerji at UFC Fight Night 141. MMA Junkie later on confirmed the news with an anonymous source.
Smolka (14-5) was cut from the UFC following a four-fight losings streak that saw him drop fights to Brandon Moreno, Ray Borg, Tim Elliott and Matheus Nicolau. After then facing up to some personal issues, Smolka then got back to winning ways and put together three wins on the regional circuit with three stoppage victories over Tyrone Christian Gorgonia, Tycen Lynn, and most recently Kyle Estrada at CXF 15 in October.
With the wind back in his sails, Smolka now gets an opportunity to get back on track in the UFC, but he will be moving up to 135-pounds to face Sumudaerji.
Smolka will be fighting at bantamweight for the first time since 2013 when he Jessie Rafols at PFX 39. He then signed for the UFC in Jan. 2014 and went 5-1 before going on the four-fight losing streak that eventually lost him his place on the UFC roster.
UFC Beijing will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Francis Ngannou.
