Khabib Nurmagomedov Warns Conor McGregor: ‘You’re Going To Have To Beg, I Will Change This Game’
UFC 223 is under four weeks away and according to Khabib Nurmagomedov, there’s going to be a shift of power in the UFC 155-pounds division.
The Russian will face Tony Ferguson on April 7 and the UFC lightweight title is said to be on the line with Conor McGregor supposedly being stripped of the title as soon as the first punch is thrown.
Speaking to Kevin Iole this past weekend, Nurmagomedov dismissed McGregor’s recent shot at him on Twitter and he suggested that when he claims the UFC title at UFC 223, the Irishman will have to beg him for a shot at the gold.
“Sometimes, you have to laugh,” Nurmagomedov said.
“He had the chance to slap me and he didn’t. He had the chance before the weigh-in at [UFC] 205 and he didn’t, why? UFC 205, what happened?
“Why didn’t he slap me? Why? He could do this, but he didn’t do this.”
Nurmagomedov went on to explain that he believes McGregor was threatened by his win over Edson Barboza and that lashed out as a consequence.
“Conor, he always puts some tweets for people to talk about this,” he said.
“Before then he never talked about my fight or my style, but when I showed performance of the year in my last fight, he begin to talk about this., because a lot of people follow this and [he doesn’t want] people to forget him.
“But when did he fight? I didn’t remember when he fight.”
Whilst everyone is talking up the prospect of a showdown between McGregor and Nurmagomedov, the Russian isn’t being so fast to jump on board.
He says McGregor is going to have to work his way to a title shot and that he’s going to make it hard for him to ever get a shot at the belt he’s expecting to win on April 7.
“After this fight, there are going to be a lot of good things. I’m going to make him humble.
“I’m going to put it on the line. He will have to beg. Remember he put some tweet like ‘beg me’ or something?
“Now he’s going to have to beg and I’m going to take this belt and I’m going to say ‘Hey Conor McGregor, I’m going to change this game. I’m going to change this game.'”
