Last Saturday, Strickland issued a stark warning to du Plessis about refraining from any trash talk related to his traumatic childhood experiences. Strickland went as far as stating,

“Listen, Dricus, we’re going to try and kill each other in the octagon, but if you mention that stuff again, I’ll actually stab you.”

Responding with a mix of humor and indifference, du Plessis chuckled at the comment.

“I mean, it’s pretty intense,” he remarked during the UFC 297 media day. “I don’t know about the laws here, but it seems like Team Strickland needs to keep their boy in check.”

However, he emphasized his primary focus on the upcoming fight, stating, “Right now, I’m here to become the middleweight world champion. I’m focused on the fight, not on jokes.”
