Donald Trump Hails Max Holloway vs Brian Ortega As ‘The Greatest Fight I’ve Ever Seen’
The UFC 231 main event between Max Holloway and Brian Ortega was widely praised and it apparently even caught the eye of President of the United States Donald Trump.
Holloway defeated Ortega after the cageside doctors called the fight off at the end of the fourth round. Both men earned $50,000 Fight of the Night bonuses for their efforts whilst Holloway also netted a $50,000 check for a Performance of the Night bonus.
UFC President Dana White lauded both Ortega and Holloway in the immediate aftermath and speaking to the Barstool Sports “Pardon My Take” podcast he revealed that his friend President Trump couldn’t get enough of it.
“He calls me on Tuesday,” White said. “For 15 minutes he couldn’t stop talking about the fight.”
According to White, Trump even went as far as saying that the UFC 231 main event was “The greatest fight I’ve ever seen.”
Whilst you can’t disagree that both Holloway and Ortega put on a great show, one can’t help but feel that it probably won’t be winning the 2018 Fight of the Year awards come July 2019.
