Demetrious Johnson vs. Ray Borg rebooked for UFC 216 in October

The flyweight title will go up for grabs in Las Vegas

Demetrious Johnson didn’t have to wait long for his fight against Ray Borg to be rebooked after all.

The flyweight title fight that was originally scheduled for UFC 215 last weekend has been rescheduled for UFC 216 in Las Vegas on Oct. 7.

Sources close to the matchup confirmed that both sides have agreed to the new date after Borg was forced off UFC 215 with a viral infection just days before the event. Combate initially reported the news.

Johnson will look for his 11th consecutive title defense when he fights at UFC 216, which would be an all time record for the promotion.

The fight will serve as Borg’s first shot at UFC gold as he looks to become only the second ever flyweight champion in UFC history.

As of now, the interim lightweight title fight between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee is still expected to headline the card but UFC officials have made no formal announcement regarding the second title fight being added to the event.
