Darren Till Fancies A Scrap With Conor McGregor At Liverpool FC’s Anfield

Could we see a fight between Conor McGregor and Darren Till go down at Anfield?

UFC welterweight Darren Till was in attendance at Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Cardiff yesterday and it appears it’s got “The Gorilla” thinking about some grand plans of his own.

Till and McGregor are coming off the back of UFC title fight losses in last two months with defeats at UFC 228 and UFC 229 respectively. Both have previously spoken about their desire to headline a stadium show in their hometowns and Till appeared to be inspired by his visit to Anfield yesterday afternoon.

Speaking out via his Instagram, Till posted a photo of Anfield along with the caption:

“@thenotoriousmma before your last retirement fight in ?? #Anfield The true ?

An Instagram story post then later reiterated the message:

“Lets go @thenotoriousmma and sell it out!!”

Could we actually see Darren Till vs Conor McGregor fight at Anfield?

Whilst not out the realms of possibility, it’s safe to say that this won’t be a fight we see in the short term future.

Had McGregor defeated Nurmagomedov and Till defeated Woodley at UFC 228, the Irishman would’ve then had the opportunity to fight for a historic third UFC title in a different weight class. In this scenario, yes, we could’ve at least entertained the possibility of them meeting at 170-pounds for a very unlikely superfight.

With things as they are though, McGregor looks set to continue to try and regain the 155-pounds strap whilst Till is still looking at his options in regards to whether he continues to fight at welterweight or middleweight.

Would a fight between Till and McGregor be an epic scene? No doubt, but for the minute at least, both men are on very different paths.

McGregor seems adamant on trying to make an unlikely fight at Croke Park happen before he retires, Till’s dream of headlining a fight card at Anfield still feels like the more likely one though.
