CEO Campbell McLaren Says Combate Americas ‘Would Be A Perfect Home’ For Yair Rodriguez

CEO Campbell McLaren says Combate Americas 'would be a perfect home' for Yair Rodriguez.

Yair Rodriguez appears to have been given his marches orders by the UFC, but there looks to be a number of suitors already lining up to chase his signature.

Bellator president Scott Coker last night confirmed to MMAJunkie that the promotion was interested in the Mexican featherweight and that they will hold talks with him should he be able to provide evidence of his release.

Earlier today, MMANytt.com reached out to Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren who gave us the following statement:

“Combate Americas would make a perfect home for him,” McLaren said.

“An exceptional talent like him will get many offers.

“Ours is the most natural fit.”

Rodriguez was informed that he’d been released by the UFC on Thursday.

Dana White confirmed the news to Lance Pugmire of the LA Times and Damon Martin of MMANytt later confirmed the report with representatives close to the fighter.

“The guy’s off a year, rejects a fight with Lamas and then doesn’t want to fight a guy below him in the rankings? He can go somewhere else. We have no use for him,” White said.

“He calls that fight fake news. This is real news.”

Ariel Helwani this morning reported that the Rodriguez’s release papers have been issued and that he is now officially a free agent.

The UFC may have felt that Rodriguez’s services were dispensable, but there appears to be no shortage of offers about to come his way in the next few weeks.

Time will tell where he ends up.
