Ben Askren’s comeback fight expected to be announced this week

✅ After the first loss of his career, which came via brutal knockout, Ben Askren seems to be on his way back for a main event fight

Yet another fight seems to be in the works and is expected to be announced soon. According to The Ariel Helwani Show, the UFC are still working on a fight between Ben Askren and Demian Maia, which is expected to take place as the main event at UFC on ESPN+ 20 in Singapore on October 26th.

Askren made his UFC debut against former champ Robbie Lawler, winning via controversial, first round submission. Askren locked up a bulldog choke and referee Herb Dean stopped the bout as Lawler appeared to go limp, but that was not the case. After that controversial finish Askren was brutally knocked out by Jorge Masvidal after only five seconds.

Maia recently endured a tough three fight skid against divisional elite Tyron Woodley, Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. Maia then returned to the win column after submitting Lyman Good in Brazil. In his most recent outing he outlasted Anthony Rocco Martin, winning a majority decision.
