While the news of Jon Jones recent arrest was unexpected during an ongoing pandemic, the way that some in the MMA community would react to the news tells a different story. Jones was arrested early Thursday morning for driving while intoxicated (DWI), as well as negligent use of a firearm. He later confessed to intending to continue driving.

Jones is indisputably one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, however he is also a fighter known for controversy. He has had previous transgressions with the law, such as a DUI and a hit-and-run, and also got into a fight with rival Daniel Cormier at a press conference. There has been speculation that he may be stripped of his title due to this scandal, though the UFC have not commented on those theories.
