Jon Jones Opens as Massive Favorite in Next Title Fight Against Anthony Smith at UFC 235

Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will probably be a sizable favorite in every title defense going forward but the odds are definitely on his side for the upcoming showdown against Anthony Smith

Jon Jones will be a massive favorite once again in his next fight as he’s expected to take on Anthony Smith in the UFC 235 main event.

Jones still has to get clearance from the Nevada State Athletic Commission at a hearing tentatively scheduled for Jan. 29. Assuming all goes well in that meeting to receive his license, Jones would face Smith on March 2 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The opening odds for the fight were released by Ohmbet on Sunday with Jones opening as a huge favorite to get the job done against the underdog in Smith.

According to the odds makers at Ohmbet, Jones opened at -625, making him a 6-to-1 favorite going up against Smith, who is currently a +400 underdog.

Jones has been the favorite in all of his fights as champion but the last time he was favored by this much was his short notice bout against Ovince Saint-Preux in 2016. On that occasion, Jones opened around -675 and ultimately won the fight by unanimous decision.

While the odds may be against Smith going into the fight, the former middleweight turned light heavyweight has sounded confident that he can become the person to finally topple the seemingly unbeatable Jones.

First things first, Jones has to get his fight license on Jan. 29 so he can get the go ahead to face Smith in the UFC 235 main event.
