ONE Championship Boss Announces Fights For Renzo Gracie, Shinya Aoki And Martin Nguyen
Never say never folks.
Renzo Gracie looks set to make a return to active MMA competition for one last time on July 27 when he faces Yuki Kondo in the ONE Championship cage.
The news was announced by ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong via his Facebook page this morning. Sityodtong also made a number of other announcements including an interim ONE Championship 135-pounds title fight between Martin Nguyen and Kevin Belingon.
“Get ready for fireworks in Manila on July 27! Martin Nguyen and Kevin Belingon will face each other for the interim ONE Bantamweight World Championship. Renzo Gracie and Yuki Kondo will say farewell in a final dance for this legend vs legend fight. Shinya Aoki and Shannon Wiratchai will throw down in a high stakes battle to get one step closer to a world title shot. And yes, Eduard Folayang will light up Philippines with his greatness on this card. Stay tuned for more big news! BOOM!!!”

Renzo Gracie last fought back in 2010 when he lost to Matt Hughes at UFC 112 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi. His professional MMA record stands at 13-7-1 with some of his most notable wins over the likes of Frank Shamrock, Carlos Newton and Pat Miletich.
Kondo has had over 100 professional MMA fights with a record of 60-34-9. The Japanese fighter last fought back in Dec. 2017 when he was defeated by Jutaro Nakao via second round TKO. Kondo fought in the UFC three times with his single win coming against Alexandre Dantas at UFC 27 in 2000. He went on to lose to Tito Ortiz and Vladimir Matyushenko before returning to fight almost exclusively in Pancrase.
The other bout announced by Sityodtong featured another MMA legend Shinya Aoki taking on Shannon Wiratchai.
