IT’S OFFICIAL!!! Darren Till Meets Stephen Thompson At UFC Liverpool
The worst kept secret in MMA is now official, Darren Till will face Stephen Thompson on May 27 at UFC Liverpool.
Till (16-0-1) is undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and has won four bouts under the UFC banner. The one draw on his record came against Nicolas Dalby at UFC Dublin in October 2016, but since then the Liverpudlian has put three wins together against Jessin Ayari, Bojan Velickovic, and most recently against Donald Cerrone.
Two weeks ago, Till stepped out on stage ahead of the UFC London weigh-ins and announced the UFC would be coming to his hometown for the first time in their history.
Till made no secret about wanting to fight Thompson on the card, but the American originally distanced himself from the fight citing the fact that he was still recovering from hands injuries that he sustained at the backend of last year..
That all changed last week though and Chris Taylor of BJPenn.com was first to report that the fight between Thompson and Till was in the works.
This report was confirmed this afternoon by the UFC social media channels and Till vs Thompson will take the headline slot at the Echo Arena on May 27.

Thompson (14-2) has competed twice for the UFC welterweight title against Tyron Woodley, but was unsuccessful capturing the title on both occasions following a draw at UFC 205 in 2016 and then a unanimous decision loss at UFC 209 in 2017.
The American has since bounced back from those disappointments with a unanimous decision win over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 217.
Here’s Till’s reaction to the news:
