A long simmering rivalry between Francis Ngannou and Derrick Lewis will finally come to a boil when the heavyweights clash at UFC 226 in Las Vegas on July 7.

Sources close to the matchup confirmed the bout was in the works on Friday following an initial report from MMAFighting.

Lewis has been asking to fight Ngannou since the hype started to build around the gargantuan Cameroonian born heavyweight following several jaw rattling knockouts in the UFC.

The anticipation for the fight only grew more after Ngannou suffered his first UFC loss to heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic back in January and Lewis was quick to take a jab at him over social media while continue to push for the matchup to finally happen.

As for Ngannou, he’s also voiced his opinion on Lewis several times in the past but now the two heavy hitting monsters will have a chance to settle their differences inside the Octagon.

Ngannou vs. Lewis is the latest addition to the UFC 226 fight card that will be headlined by Miocic putting his heavyweight title on the line against light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.
