Dana White Says Al Iaquinta Vs Justin Gaethje ‘Is A Fun Fight, But Isn’t Going To Happen’

Dana White says Justin Gaethje vs Al Iaquinta is a fight he wants to make but blames Iaquinta for it not happening.

If you were holding out hope for a showdown between Justin Gaethje and Al Iaquinta, you best start pinning your hopes elsewhere.

Both Iaquinta and Gaethje have spoken publicly about their desire to fight on another on social media lately, but UFC President Dana White has doesn’t think the fight will be taking place any time soon.

Speaking today on the UFC Unfiltered podcast earlier today, White admitted it would be a great fight, but pinned the blame on Iaquinta for the fight not happening.

“Yeah that’s a fun fight, but it isn’t going to happen,” White said. “Iaquinta is absolutely 100-percent out of that fight.”

White went on to imply that Iaquinta is asking for a new deal to fight Gaethje. The Serra-Longo fighter confirmed prior to UFC 223 earlier this year that he’d received a new deal, but White said he was looking to re-up once again to take on Gaethje.

“He believes that, I’m pretty sure we just did a new deal with Al Iaquinta and he just got a good pay day against Khabib and he feels like, he has a deal, let me reiterate he has a deal,” White said.

“He feels like if he moves up and fights guys higher ranked than him that he should be paid a lot more money. He feels that if he fights guys that a lower ranked than him, then he should make a lot less money.”

White failed to remark whether either fighter had been approached about the fight.
