Aaron Chalmers Hoping For Future Showdown With CM Punk In Bellator MMA
Aaron Chalmers will make his Bellator MMA debut on May 25 when he takes on Ash Griffiths at Bellator 200.
The ex-reality TV star has caused no end on controversy since making his MMA debut last year, but later this month he will get the opportunity to silence the doubters once again when he takes his fourth professional bout.
Just a few weeks after Chalmers fights, CM Punk will have his second fight in the UFC when he faces Mike Jackson in Chicago. Speaking this week in his exclusive column with The Sun newspaper, Chalmers said he’s going to be keeping an eye on Punk’s fight.
“I understand what Punk faces and I take a keen interest in his career because I hope our paths cross,” Chalmers said.
“I see his opponent Mike Jackson is already using mind games ahead of their fight at UFC 225. Jackson is insisting on calling Punk his real name – Phil Brooks – which takes away Punk’s biggest asset; his WWE legacy and his brand power.
“That could be a great strategy because he is hurting him and frustrating him before he is even getting in the Octagon and he could do the same as he did in his first fight.”
Chalmers will have his hands full with Griffiths on May 25, but he’s already plotting out his future opponents.
The Geordie has made no secret of his desire to fight Kevin “Baby Slice” Ferguson Jr., but it appears that he also has one eye on taking on CM Punk in the future.
“I will be keeping my eyes peeled because everyone knows that is the fight I want in the future – him and Baby Slice are the big fights for me,” Chalmers said.
“If he gets beat and cut from the UFC then hopefully Bellator can get him on the phone and that is another one we can look forward to.”
