Joe Rogan: Floyd Mayweather Could Be In for ‘Terrible Night’ Against Tenshin Nasukawa

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan talks about the new fight just announced between Floyd Mayweather and Tenshin Nasukawa that's scheduled for New Year's Eve in Japan

Floyd Mayweather will come out of retirement to face undefeated kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa at RIZIN 14 in Japan on New Year’s Eve but right now the rules for the fight have not been determined.

Most believe that Mayweather would never allow himself to step into a fight of this magnitude with anything other than boxing rules in place because allowing Nasukawa any other weapons could give him a huge advantage in the fight.

The 20-year old rising star from Japan is undefeated in his career as a kickboxer with 21 knockouts while also amassing a perfect 4-0 record in mixed martial arts.

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan offered his thoughts on the matchup while praising Nasukawa’s fighting ability and adding that giving him weapons beyond his hands could make for a very bad night for Mayweather in his return to action.

“I’m sure many of you combat sports fans have heard that Floyd Mayweather has signed to face Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan on New Years Eve,” Rogan wrote on Instagram. “I don’t know what kind of “special rules” they’re supposed to be fighting under but I just like the fact that it’s going to happen and that people get to google Tenshin’s name and see some of his fights. He’s a true striking genius.

“I doubt Floyd is going to agree to any rules that allow Tenshin to kick, but if he does it could be a terrible night for him. This kid is the truth.”

The surprise announcement about the fight came on Sunday night with Mayweather appearing alongside Nasukawa in Japan.

The bout is scheduled for RIZIN 14, which takes place at Saitama Super Arena in Japan on Dec. 31.

Mayweather said on Sunday that the rules and weight class for the fight are still to be determined as Nasukawa also competes at a much lower weight than the undefeated boxer who retired last year after defeating UFC superstar Conor McGregor in a boxing match.

Expect more details about this fight to come together over the next few weeks as Mayweather prepares to fight Nasukawa in Japan.
