Corey Anderson Now Faces Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night in Germany

A new co-main event has been put together for the UFC's return to Germany as former "Ultimate Fighter" winner Corey Anderson will face off with Glover Teixeira on July 22 in Hamburg.

A new co-main event has been put together for the UFC’s return to Germany as former “Ultimate Fighter” winner Corey Anderson will face off with Glover Teixeira on July 22 in Hamburg.

Anderson confirmed the news on Sunday while also revealing that he has signed a new contract with the UFC.

“When opportunity knocks you answer,” Anderson wrote. “I got where I am now, off the right opportunities on short notice fights and staying in the gym. Happy to announce that I have signed my fourth contract with the UFC and I will be fighting my 12th fight in my UFC career against Glover Teixeira in two weeks.”

Anderson has been lobbying to land the fight after Ilir Latifi was forced to drop off the card to injury a few days ago.

Anderson is coming off a dominant decision victory over Patrick Cummins in his most recent fight and he’s been staying ready in case a short notice opportunity like this came up.

Now he’ll get his shot as he takes on a former title contender in Teixeira, who has gone 2-1 over his past three fights including a TKO against Misha Cirkunov in his most recent performance.

Anderson vs. Teixeira will now serve as the co-main event to another light heavyweight showdown in the headliner as Anthony Smith takes on former champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
