Artem Lobov Reveals What Conor McGregor Said To Him After Being Confronted By Khabib Nurmagomedov

Artem Lobov has revealed what Conor McGregor messaged him after being confronted by Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223.

Artem Lobov has had a crazy 2018, but on Saturday he will get back to doing what he loves the most when he takes on Michael Johnson at UFC Moncton.

The SBG man was involved in a confrontation with Khabib Nurmagomedov back at UFC 223 fight week in what turned out to be the catalyst of McGregor turning up in Brooklyn later that week to hunt down Nurmagomedov and throw a dolly through a bus window in an attempt to exact revenge.

After seeing himself pulled from that his scheduled fight at UFC 223 against Alex Caceres, Lobov then kept out of the spotlight and away from the media. Speaking to Ariel Helwani last evening though, Lobov revealed what McGregor had messaged him after he was confronted by Nurmagomedov in the fighter hotel and before the Irishman arrived in New York.

“There was only one good message, from Conor,” Lobov said (H/T transcribe JOE).

“[He said] ‘I’m on the way, I’m coming over, and I don’t care what, when, who, why. I don’t give a f**k. You’re my brother and I’m on the way over’.”

Lobov then went on to explain that the relationship between Nurmagomedov and McGregor was decent until the Russian started calling him “Chicken.” Lobov described the meaning of the word in Russia and how it is different to what it is in western culture.

“That all changed when for some reason, and I don’t know why, Khabib started calling Conor a chicken,” Lobov said.

“I’m not sure why he did that, or why he started to, because everything was just fine before that. Conor had never said anything bad toward Khabib. But, for some reason, Khabib started to call him chicken.

“It might not sound very serious to you guys but, just so you know, chicken is one of the most severe insults you can give a man in Russia. In fact, you call someone a chicken in Russia, that is a person who gets raped in prison, in a male prison.

“That’s what a chicken is in Russia, and Khabib knows that. Everybody knows that. It is a very, very, very severe insult.”

Lobov returns to the UFC Octagon this Saturday when he faces Johnson in the co-main event of UFC Moncton.
