Coach Reveals Francis Ngannou Learned Combo That KO’d Alistair Overeem Two Weeks Ago

Francis Ngannou is an incredible fast learner according to his coach

By now everybody knows that Francis Ngannou is a force of nature whenever he steps inside the Octagon but perhaps the scariest thing about him is that he’s still largely a novice when it comes to mixed martial arts.

Ngannou only had his first professional fight four years ago, which wasn’t long after he actually started training in the sport.

This past weekend at UFC 218, Ngannou secured his spot as the No. 1 contender in the heavyweight division with a ferocious one punch knockout against former title challenger Alistair Overeem. The shot that landed went off like a bomb as Overeem’s head snapped back like a Pez dispenser before he felt limp on the canvas.

As scary as the punch was that landed, perhaps an even more frightening fact is that Ngannou just learned that particular striking combination just two weeks ago.

Ngannou’s coach Fernand Lopez posted a video on Instagram showing how he taught the combination to the 31-year old fighter just a couple of weeks earlier before he unleashed it on Overeem this past Saturday night.

Obviously, Ngannou is a fast learner and he’s already said he’s not going to take off much time before getting back in the gym to soak in even more knowledge as he prepares for his title shot against heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in 2018.
