Watch Dricus Du Plessis KO Roberto Soldic To Become The New KSW Welterweight Champion
Dricus Du Plessis defeated Roberto Soldic to become the new KSW welterweight champion at KSW 43.
23-year-old Soldic entered the bout riding high off his title win against Borys Mankowski last December, but in his way, 24-year-old Du Plessis entered the cage with just as much confidence and as two weight EFC world champion.
Damian Janikowski had just put in an incredible performance in the co-main event to finish Englishman Yannick Bahati in less than a minute, but the Polish crowd didn’t dare leave before the main event in what was a rare KSW headliner between two non-Polish fighters.
You could hear a pin drop in the arena such was the tension as the fight began and it was the champion who started out well as Soldic landed a nice left hand.
The Croat then knocked Du Plessis down to the mat with a nice combination against the cage, but Du Plessis quickly got back to his feet and created distance. Soldic then looked to have Du Plessis in trouble again with a big flurry, but Du Plessis hit a double leg takedown.
Soldic rose back to his feet but then got slammed down to the mat before rising once again to his feet. As Soldic rose Du Plessis took his back and then jumped on his back like a backpack for a good minute before Soldic fell to the mat.

Du Plessis then locked in a rear-naked choke but time expired and both men walked back to their corner.
Soldic started round two looking as if he had his feet back underneath him and he landed a big uppercut that Du Plessis did well to eat. The two then exchanged in the centre of the cgae, but Du Plessis slipped Soldic’s punch and landed a huge counter left to knock him down to the mat.
Du Plessis then pounced on the stricken Soldic and finished him with strikes as the referee dove in to call the fight.

It was an incredible performance from the South African who now adds a third world title to his collection.
